Does InfoPlus validate addresses?
No. Address validations are best addressed and fixed at the point of order entry. We suggest you have your order management system do the heavy lifting.
The only validation InfoPlus performs for incoming Orders is to check the state and zip code on the address against an internal database with valid state/zip combinations, but there is no validation performed for the address itself, like the city, street number, and so on.
If the state/zip code combination is not found (specifically, if the state and zip code do not match, such as a zip code from Montana being on an Order bound for Mississippi), the Order will be tagged with 'ipsys-address-unverified'.
InfoPlus will not hold Orders with invalid state/zip combinations out of Fulfillment Processes; instead, it will assign a tag indicating the state and zip do not match our records.
How can I find Orders that are failing the state/zip check?
You can find these orders by creating a Smart Filter and Metric to alert you to orders InfoPlus has tagged with 'ipsys-address-unverified'.
If you can fix the invalid address prior to running Fulfillment, then you will not slow down your shipment processes when the carrier validation fails at label creation (if you are certain the address is valid, click here).
If your window between receipt of Order and Fulfillment is short, you my want to create a Business Rule instead.
What happens if an Order that fails the state/zip check goes to fulfill?
The Order will make it all the way through Fulfillment up until you attempt to create labels, at which point it will fail carrier validation.
How can I prevent Orders failing the state/zip check from fulfilling?
If you create a Business Rule for orders tagged with 'ipsys-address-unverified', any Orders that have this tag will be prevented from running through Fulfillment.
Once you have validated the address on the Order is correct, remove the 'ipsys-address-unverified' tag and the Order will process normally.
What if the address failing is actually valid?
If you find that InfoPlus has erroneously tagged a state/zip combination that is valid, please submit a support ticket to have the entry added to the database.
