In our latest release, we're excited to reveal the implementation of a new table and feature! This is a revision/correction of our release last week, which did not include all the relevant information.
Running Alternate Pick ("Alt Pick Short Pick")
Shorted Work Table
Block Shipping for Unresolved Short Work
Substitution when Alternate Pick is Not Available
*User must have permission to run alternate pick
New settings/configurations:
Process for Alternate Pick
During the picking process, if the picking location does not actually contain the full pick amount and the user selects Short Ticket, the User has the option to run the Alternate Pick process from the mobile app.
If the User runs Alternate Pick and the Fulfillment Plan setting Select Alternate Pick Location is set to "True", the User will be presented with a list of all eligible alternate locations and can choose the Alternate Pick Location.
If the User runs Alternate Pick and Select Alternate Pick Location is set to "False", the system will assign the Alternate Pick Location itself.
When an Alternate Pick Location is successfully assigned, the original Location's quantity will be adjusted to bring its quantity to zero and new pick ticket(s) will be created. The User is presented with the option to perform the alternate pick work now or later.
If the User chooses Now, the User will be prompted to perform Alternate Pick Work immediately.
If Later is chosen, the Alternate Pick Work ticket is moved to the end of all pick work in the work batch.
If Alternate Pick Location is successfully assigned and Auto Create Cycle Count Work is set to "True", then Cycle Count Work will be generated for the Location of the Short Pick.
If no Alternate Pick Locations are found and the shorted item does not have any substitutions in place, the User is prompted to review the process in the desktop application. The User will need to run the No Stock Recovery process to adjust related order, shipping, and inventory information.
If no Alternate Pick Locations are found and the shorted item has a substitution in place, the User has the option to use the substitution SKU to fulfill the Order. Pick work is then created for the substitution SKU.
When the Alternate Pick process is run, a record is inserted into the new Shorted Work table.
The status of records on this table will update to Cancelled if all orders containing the shorted item(s) are unfulfilled.
NOTE: Permissions for this table are turned off by default so if Users do not see this table, they may need it enabled.
This configuration works in conjunction with the Shorted Work table.
When to "True": If an order contains a line Item that was short picked and the record in the Shorted Work table has a status of Not Started or In Progress, an error message is received and the Order cannot be shipped. To resolve this issue, the Alternate Pick Work must be performed; if no alternate locations exist, the No Stock Recovery process must be run.
When set to "False": If an order contains a line Item that was short picked and the record in the Short Work table has a status of Not Started or In Progress, a warning message is received. Once the warning has been acknowledged, the Order can be shipped.
This feature provides users with more flexibility during the picking process. When running Alternate Pick and no other alternate pick locations are available, if the Item being short-picked has a substitution in place, the User may opt to use the substitution SKU to fulfill the Order.
Furthermore, if there are multiple substitutions in place, any substitution SKU in the substitution chain may be used to complete fulfillment.
